In the last book I read To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, the main character, Lara Jean is forced out of her comfort zone and she is like a deer caught in the headlights, confused, worried, stressed, etc. This is a lot like Hannah Baker’s situation in Thirteen Reasons Why, she moved schools, which is definitely a hard transition for anyone, but then people start telling rumours, which does not help the situation at all, in fact, it worsens it. Lara Jean did not go into the same type of depression that Hannah did, but then again they each had different deciding factors like how they cope with stress, they were in different situations, and also, they were different.
This book is centered around depression and depression is one of those things that can be seen anywhere and everywhere. We all know what it is like to be stressed, or have unhappy thoughts, so we can understand how some people are absolutely ripped apart by the overwhelming excessiveness of these things, that is depression. Whether it be because of work, school, family, friends, life, or anything in between, there is no questioning why it is such a big problem, in a lot of cases, it is a life and death situation.
